I CHOSE YOU, YOU ARE MY HEROES!

June is Heroes Month at The Academy for Dog Trainers, and I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to applaud and celebrate the HEROES of Lucky Fido!

My Students and Clients, who commit themselves to kindness, compassion and cooperation.

My Students and Clients who, in the face of so much misinformation and confusion, keep their eye on the treat bag and entrust me with themselves and their dogs.

My Students and Clients who day after day, week after week, choose Force Free Training and work towards rich relationships with their dogs,

who prioritize enrichment, play and letting their dogs be dogs as much as possible,

who arrive at class with their treat bags stuffed full of the most delectable foods,

and leave with greasy hands and proud hearts.

My Students and Clients who show up in all the locations and all the weather,

whose laughter and awe of dogs fills my studio!

Rain, Shine, Snow, Wind, Fog; nothing can stop them from being there.

My Students and Clients who are patient with themselves, with their dogs and with ME!

My Students and Clients who supported me through so many changes and challenges, as my business has taken fight in ways I hadn’t imagined!

I see you on the trails, practicing. I see you standing still for sniffing. I see you paying those recalls with handfuls of goodies.

I see you being kind to other dog people and their dogs. Stepping in to help another pup by having play dates; handing your neighbor a stick of string cheese.

I see your kindness when you are letting people at the Dog Park know that it is OKAY for dogs to be dogs; that sometimes dogs argue just like us.

I see you carrying the banner and being an advocate.

You fill my cup.

You bring me to tears of joy and gratitude.

You keep me learning and striving to be better, to bring the best of me to the table every time.

There is really no way that I can express all that my heart holds for you and because of you, but I think you know. I hope you do.
