DOGS AND PEOPLE MAKE LIFE LONG FRIENDS IN THE LUCKY FIDO STUDIO AND YARD.

 PLAYGROUPS & MATCHMAKING

I feel that time with spent with other dogs is the single most important thing we can do for our dogs who like other dogs. As dogs mature, they can become more selective or even decide they don’t want to play at all, and that is perfectly okay and normal! But research shows that young dogs and dogs who do love other dogs, need this important outlet to really thrive in their lives with us. Dog Parks are a great option for the dogs and people who enjoy them; as are playgroups. Playgroups are smaller, we selective our players with the intention of putting dogs together who will enjoy each other, and we provide commentary and education as we go!

Lucky Fido Playgroups are a great opportunity for you and your dog to make new friends and spend time with old ones while you both develop new skills. You will have the opportunity to learn more about dog body language, what is appropriate and not, how to handle uncomfortable or possibly dangerous situations, improve your ability to call your dog out of play, and become a real devotee of your dogs inner life! Your dog will have the opportunity to play without punishment or corrections, learn how meet and socialize with a variety of dogs, and have a ton of fun!

Puppy Playgroup

OPEN TO ALL PUPPIES UP TO 16 WEEKS OF AGE ON THE FIRST DAY OF PLAYGROUP

During this short developmental period in puppies, well run play with same age group puppies is where social skills are learned. I have been running these playgroups for over 6 years and it is still magical to me how much they are learning from each other and how much we can help them develop good play skills that will last a life time!

Playgroup is open to ALL puppies who have had their first round of shots.

Sundays

Off-Leash Play for dogs over 5 months old

for pups 5 months old and up

Thursdays at 4:30 pm
This group runs on separate weeks
SMALL dogs, 35 pounds & under - one week,
MED/LGE dogs, over 35 pounds - the next week

These OFF LEASH Playgroup sessions are perfect for the pups who are not interested in training when their friends are around (and everydog is their friend!) and a great way to set yourself up for success as you move into the ADOLESCENT PHASE and Manners Classes, or just because you want playtime for your dog in a professionally run, safe and educational environment.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Though the most important window for socialization closes somewhere around 15 weeks, socialization remains an important part of canine development all through adolescence and beyond for some dogs. We want to keep our growing pups and adult dogs who still love dogs honing play skills, safely exploring the world, and learning to work with and focus on their human team mates.  This human/canine conversation is so important for young, exuberant dogs and will continue to be the basis of a lifetime of happy relationships with the people in their lives.

LEARNING FOR THE DOGS & FOR THE HUMANS TOO!
During PLAYGROUP we talk and learn about Play Skills and Body Language, and do some light duty training when it feels right, using Force Free, Consent Based methods.

  • Continue to flex & build their play skills as they move into the adolescent development period.

  • Training Opportunity for SUPER SIMPLE versions of things like, Coming When Called, Sit for Greeting People, and more.

  • Learn more about how dogs learn and how to apply that knowledge to help you problem solve in the home.
