Reactive to Proactive
Group Program

support, skills, & solutions
to help you and your dog
thrive & change

This Specialized Program runs 12 sessions over 8 weeks!

Teams who have completed this program are eligible to continue on through our Group Walks Club!

Reactivity is more than just a behavior.  It has at its core emotions that are driving the behaviors.
Your dog may not have all the same emotions as another dog in the group, and this difference matters very much to us.  We will work together to make sure we are addressing your dog’s individual emotional landscape as well as learning the skills that we will all be using in the field.
Over 8 weeks we will be working together to teach and onboard skills to help change your dogs behavior at both the emotional and operational level.

Is this class right for you and your dog?

True behavior change in dogs requires more than showing up for class.
You will be required to work on skills at home, implement enrichment activities meant to help your particular dog, and track data to allow us to make good choices as we go.

Here are a few important requirements for participation in this class:

  • Your dog has no history of biting with injury

  • You are willing and able to commit to not walking your dog anywhere that you may encounter triggers.
**Don’t worry, we will talk about other ways to get the yah-yahs out!

  • You are willing and able to work for short sessions daily at home on skills you will be learning in class.

  • You are willing and able to implement Enrichment activities assigned as homework

  • You will keep data with an online tracker through Google Docs.

  • Ideally must be able to attend all sessions over the 2 months.  If you know ahead of time that you will miss a specific day, please speak with my admin assistant to see about scheduling a make-up lesson on my private schedule.  I cannot guarantee availability but will always do my best.

the schedule

Week 1 – You will be able to implement Enrichment and Management after this first class!
People only meeting to discuss Reactivity and develop our plans for the individual dogs in the group.
This is a great time to ask questions and discuss how we will address any emotional needs for your dog’s journey.

Weeks 2-4 – we will be working in the studio to onboard the skills you will be working on at home in preparation for the walking portion of our program.  Dogs may need to wait their turn in the car, depending on weather and other factors. If this will problematic, please discuss with us prior to signing up for class.

Weeks 5-8 – we will meet twice a week during this portion for a short group walk using the training skills we have worked on and learning how and when to use management strategies in real time.
The individual walks will run 30 minutes with 15 minutes afterwards with handlers only to discuss the walk and ask questions.

Weeks 1-4 - Saturdays 9-10 AM
Weeks 5-8 - Twice a week - Thursdays - 9:45-10:30 & Saturdays - 9:00-9:45 AM
